The most developed of the coastal towns in Costa Rica, surrounded by mountains, jungles, and ocean. Located just 2 hours from San Jose it is the closest beach to the capital city, and the international airport, which has greatly helped with its development. Great fishing, surfing, canopy tours, horses back riding, whitewater rafting, ocean kayaking and ecological tours to fill your day. At night dozens of restaurants, sports bars, discos, and casinos keep you occupied. Of course you can always just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Accommodations in the Jaco and the surrounding area run from the elite Marriott Los Suenos to small Spartan cottages on the beach. I have stayed at several and can recommend three, The Marriott, Hotel Arenal Pacifico and Club Del Mar they are all excellent and can be accessed from this site. The other option for lodging is to rent a home or condo which for a group or family can be very practical and economical. I can only recommend one of these. “MOE’S PARADISE” IT’S MINE.
Jaco’s main street runs parallel to the coast for about 2 miles with several side streets running to the ocean. Here you will find no fewer than 30 open-air Restaurants serving to every taste and budget. Sports bars dot the city with large screen TVs and satellites so you can keep up with your favorite teams, most have pool tables, foosball, and other points of interest, discos open late and close at sunrises and the casinos will teach you how to play rummy.
