White water rafting adventures
Class I-IV, and even tougher challenges, are at their peak from May-October. Or take a lazy “Float Ride” and enjoy the tropical rain forest and wildlife. Arenal Volcano is a must, and full-day tours are available from San Jose and Guanacaste towns. Nearby Rincon Vieja is also famous for volcanoes. May-October are peak months in Guanacaste, where Tamarindo and Playas del Coco are convenient to Witch’s Rock and lots of other surfing spots. From Jaco down to Golfito on the Pacific, you’ll find great surfing too.
Scuba diving and snorkeling
Guanacaste is the top spot, with trips to the Bats and Cats (Bats Islands and Catalina for diving with sharks and giant rays. Or explore giant rock formations and pinnacles closer to shore.
