Costa Rican Canopy Tours in the Rain Forest
We at Jaco Beach Costa Rica are somewhat biased when it comes to canopy tours or zip-lines as they are often called. Many are good and some are outstanding. To be outstanding in our book: 1. means a real canopy experience (not a few lines between trees in a dry tropical forest) 2. highly trained expert guides, and 3. an untouchable safety record. Although Costa Rica has many acceptable ziplines, we recommend the ones that we have personally been on. Read the brief history of founders of the Original Canopy Tours below.
Darren Hreniuk and his partner Rick Graham invented and started this thrilling adventure in 1992. Darren and Rick moved to Costa Rica from Canada with an ultimate goal of using a unique idea to help raise awareness for reforestation, education and socio-economic development in the surrounding areas. The ORIGINAL CANOPY TOUR has since helped raise consciousness about the rainforest’s fragile ecosystem and helped rural children get the schooling they require.
The ORIGINAL CANOPY TOUR is the pioneer of this type of activity and offers almost everyone an exhilarating opportunity to soar through the forest treetops high above the forest floor on a tree top adventure of a lifetime. There you will view jungle life from a perspective previously reserved for a select group of researchers and photographers.
Over 1,000,000 of our guests have safely “soared” from tree to tree by traversing along their cables made from similar technology used in the NASA Space Program. This includes the famous presidential couple, Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter. As you enjoy a bird’s eye view of the jungle over the trails far below, your certified expert guides assist and explain what is going on in the habitat around you.
Try all of their locations. Each of the canopy adventures is a distinctive journey custom designed and built for the geographic region where it operates. So once you’ve “soared” through The ORIGINAL CANOPY TOUR Mahogany Park in Costa Rica you will not want to pass up the opportunity to try the one at Monteverde and then down to the beautiful Osa Peninsula near Corcovado.
